KAT-TUN Ueda Tatsuya’s solo live

KAT-TUN’s Ueda Tatsuya on the 26th has his solo live at The First Gymnasium in Yoyogi. It was reported last month that during KAT-TUN’s concert in Taipei, Ueda broke his left big toe however, still resumed performing on the next concert date as though the pain is not bothering him.

Ueda’s solo concert tour started early last month in which he will have 8 performances in 5 cities. Although his injury is not yet completely healed and it was said that he’s still in pain, he acted like a professional and even ran around the stage, completely focused on the stage director’s instructions.

“SCOOP! Shougeki Shasin” gave a detailed report about Ueda’s accident in Taiwan and had photos showing the sequence of Ueda’s 3 meter jump. “After I jumped, I just thought ‘This is bad’,” he said in a joke.

About his first solo live tour, Ueda expressed that he’s so happy about it and it was his dream to have one. When asked about Akanichi Jin, who have left the group and will perform in 5 cities in the US, all Ueda said is “He is my friend. So I’ll be supporting him in his activities”.

Junior High rock group LEDY JOE to release debut album

New rock band LEDY JOE will release their debut album “clockworked lemon” on September 29th. The album was produced by Asai Kenichi who was the vocalist of BLANKEY JET CITY (now disbanded).

LEDY JOE was formed sometime in 2009, and were quite active in the indie scene until they were picked up by major record label, Sexy Stone Records. Surprisingly, all three members are still students of junior high school. The group is comprised of members Kounoike Haruka (Vocalist, Guitar), Yokoyama Kota (Bass), and Kondo Hiroki (Drums). They will hold their first live as major label artists on October 2nd at the Daisy Bar in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo.

“ONE PIECE” to resume on Weekly Shonen Jump

Popular manga, “ONE PIECE” has been on hiatus for four weeks, but will resume once more on Weekly Shonen Jump’s 44th issue, set for release on October 4th. The new chapter, “Saigo no Umi, Shinsekai-hen (最後の海 新世界編)” will start 2 years after the last chapter (#597), in which Luffy and his friends reunite and go on an adventure to “Shinsekai (the new world).”

The author of “ONE PIECE”, Oda Eiichiro gave a comment on the 43rd issue of Jump, which was published on September 27th:

“Thanks to you, I was able to rest my body. Thank you for this happy time. Now, I’m full charged. The “Shinsekai-hen” will be a story moving toward the ending of ONE PIECE. I am very excited to think about the next adventure, as if I’m start a whole new series. Please look forward to see the adventure to the new world.”

YUI’s upcoming single chosen as theme song for new drama

It’s been reported that YUI’s upcoming single “Rain” has been chosen as the theme song for new drama “Perfect Report“, scheduled to begin in October.

“Perfect Report” is the first drama to be played on FujiTV’s new drama-time slot for Sundays at 9 pm; talents Matsuyuki Yasuko, Koide Keisuke, and Aibu Saki have been cast for the show. According to the producer of FujiTV, the reason why they chose YUI’s song is because YUI devotes a lot of energy into her songs.

This is the 4th time for YUI to sing for a drama, and “Rain” will be her 17th single. If the new song hits No.1 on Oricon, it will be 6 times in a row – the same record that Utada Hikaru holds as a female singer and a song writer.

Arashi to release new single “Hatenai Sora”

Arashi will be releasing their 6th single for 2010, “Hatenai Sora(Endless sky)” on November 10th. The new single will also be used as a theme song for upcoming drama “Freeter, ie wo kau” (will start on October 19th) in which one of the members, Ninomiya Kazunari stars in. ”Hatenai Sora” will come as 2 different versions, the track list is not yet fully revealed.

Super Junior Misses Hankyung

Super Junior members have started to talk about former member Hankyung, who is currently in a dispute with SM Entertainment over exclusive contracts.

On September 23rd, Super Junior was on the Chuseok Special episode of MBC’s “Radio Star – Super Show”. On the show, they talked about their current relationship with Hankyung. They shared, “We still can’t get in touch with Hankyung. We were all so close, but none of us have been able to get in touch with him.”

“We saw articles in which [Hankyung] said life in Korea was hard and that the members didn’t take care of him,” they said. “It hurt when we heard that.”

Lee Teuk, in particular, revealed how upset he was. He said, “If [Hankyung] was having trouble with [any kind of] a problem, it would have been good if he came to discuss it with us first, but we had no idea. None of us had any idea that he would come out like that.” He added, “Hankyung’s place is empty right now. A dream that I have is to perform on stage with all thirteen members before I have to do my military service. I still miss Hankyung.”

The members also talked about Kangin, who is currently doing his military service after being publicly criticized for incidents of assault and drunk driving. They said, “When Kangin first got caught up in the assault incident, we all agreed that we had to defend and protect him. Kangin was reflective and showed that he was sorry, but when the drunk driving incident happened a month later, we honestly felt a bit betrayed.”

Jang Geun Suk…the original Goo Jun Pyo

On the latest episode of KBS Shin Dong-yup and Shin Bong-sun’s Champagne, it was revealed that Jang Geun Suk turned down an offer to play the rich meanie Goo Joon Pyo in the hit drama series Boys Over Flowers!

Jang Geun Suk explained that, as he was looking at potential projects, the two dramas that really caught his eye were Beethoven Virus and Boys Over Flowers. He wanted to do both but felt that Beethoven Virus had more to offer as a learning experience since many senior actors would be appearing on the show. With that in mind, he got a role in Beethoven Virus, and the role of Goo Joon Pyo eventually went to Lee Minho.

Jang Geun Suk seems to have no regrets, and said that Lee Minho portrayed the character well and that, if Jang Geun Suk had taken on the role, it might not have been as good. Perhaps he saw the success of Boys Over Flowers and decided to make it up by starring in You’re Beautiful, another show with a large teen fan base.

Ayumi Hamasaki’s “blossom” PV featuring Jaejoong

Last week, a short version of Ayumi Hamasaki’s long awaited PV for “blossom” was unveiled. Now, the full length version of the PV has been released.

The PV features Jaejoong of J.Y.J / TVXQ, and it has a really touching story. This is Ayumi Hamasaki’s first music video that she doesn’t star in, as she believed that she “would be talking too much.”

“Isabella” role casted, sneak peeks for “Paradise Kiss” revealed!

Previously, we reported that popular manga/anime Paradise Kiss will be released as a live-action movie starring Kitagawa Keiko and Mukai Osamu. The film’s release date has been set for May 2011, but to indulge the hungry fans, some scene stills as well as a more-detailed cast list has just been revealed!

Igarashi Shunji (D-BOYS) will play the role of Isabella (actual birth name, ‘Yamamoto Daisuke’). ‘Isabella’ is a transgendered character who identifies herself as a woman by dressing and acting like one. To prepare for the role, Shunji lost 8 kg., removed his facial hair through laser procedures, and learned how to act like a lady (as Isabella is very well-mannered, feminine person).

Shunji revealed that he uses three false eyelashes on each eye. He also confessed, “I learned how hard it is to live as a woman through make-up and stuff, and to be honest, I almost got into it (to disguise in woman’s clothes).” ”Paradise Kiss” will also star Ohmasa Aya as ‘Sakurada Miwako‘ and Kaku Kento as ‘Nagase Arashi. ‘idolM@ster 2′ to feature a male idol group

Please welcome the new male idol group Jupiter who will debut at Namco Bandai’s ‘The idolM@STER 2’.

Jupiter is a three-male group comprised of members Amagase Touma, Ijuuin Hokuto and Mitarai Shouta. Don’t get confused if they look a bit different from past idolM@ster idols because they are actually dudes. Jupiter is a band under ‘961 Productions’ – 961 is a pun that can be read as “ku-ro-i” or “black”.

A big surprise at the Tokyo Game Show, Namco Bandai already opened the group’s very own website featuring their first video, which shows Jupiter performing “Alice of Gulity”.

Hitomi Shimatani announces new cover single

Veteran pop singer Hitomi Shimatani will finally be releasing a new single on October 6th titled, “Mayonaka no Guitar.”

“Mayonaka no Guitar” is a cover of the 1969 hit debut song by Chiga Kahoru. It is a tender, warm song and Shimatani’s version will be a unique take on the classic. The choice to do another remake was probably influenced by her release of a cover album earlier this year. Although the new single isn’t an original song from the vocalist, it’s been a year and a half since her last release, so fans will definitely anticipate her upcoming work.

“Mayonaka no Guitar” will come out in CD and CD + DVD versions. The DVD version will contain live clips of her performing “Mayonaka no Guitar” at the Asahi Hall from July. The DVD will also come with the official PV of the song.

Superstars on the final episode of Matsujun’s ‘Natsuniji’!

Popular drama series, “Natsu no Koi ha Nijiiro ni Kagayaku” (which stars Matsumoto Jun and Takeuchi Yuko) will air its final episode on September 20th, and it will wrap up the drama properly with a play!

The series finale will reflect “Hamlet“s ‘play within a play’ concept. To further enrich the viewers’ experience, many prominent talents were invited to make guest-appearances for the play.

The guests include: Ichimura Masachika, Natsuki Mari, Fukada Kyoko, Kitamura Yukiya, and one of the Arashi members, Ninomiya Kazunari! According to Sanspo, Jun was very excited about this development, and said that he wanted to make the play in the drama as the best performance.

Jin Akanishi announces U.S. tour dates

Jin Akanishi has finally released his U.S. tour dates on his website. His “Yellow Gold Tour 3010” will be in five cities across the U.S.

His first U.S. concert back in June was a huge success, leading to his first U.S. tour. He gambled on the success of the show to go solo, leaving his former group, KAT-TUN.

Is Junie the “second Utada”?

17-year-old Korean singer/songwriter, Junie, recently won Japan’s “Niji-Iro Supernova”. The show is a talent competition similar to American Idol and Superstar K, but focused on female vocalists. She flew from Korea to join the competition and ended up beating out 1,500 contestants. She is being dubbed the “second Utada” because she has an affiliation with EMI Music, Utada’s label.

She arrived in Japan last June in hopes of studying abroad to polish up her musical sense, and she currently is going to a Japanese language school and taking guitar lessons at night. Her hobby is composing songs, and lately she’s been writing her songs in Japanese.

Junie has a sweet, nostalgic voice that gives off a Bonnie Pink vibe.

She will make her debut in early 2011.

Co-Ed reveals two more members!

Appropriately named mixed group “Co-Ed“ has now revealed image cuts of two more members, both with different appeals! They are’Hot Blood‘ Kang Ho and the youngest cutie,’Solid‘ Sung Min!

The youngest member ‘Solid’ Sung Min shows a well-refined dance talent with a particular mastery of ‘popping’, which contrasts with his naive, cute image. Even popping expert ‘Poppin’ Hyun Joon has also acknowledged ‘Solid’ Sung Min’s skills.

Co-Ed will be shooting their music video in 3D, and are scheduled to attend a press preview on the 27th.

Comical version of “Fugitive” poster released

The second poster for “Fugitive” has been released, and it seems the plot won’t be all serious, as the actors are shown in smiles and various comical poses. The wildly anticipated drama was revealed to not only be an action thriller, but also to have elements of a romantic comedy as well.

The main writer and director, who also collaborated on the hit drama “Chuno”, stated that actors Jung Ji Hoon, Lee Na Young, and Lee Jung Jin will be the action and drama for the series, while Sung Dongeen and Gong Hyun Jin will provide comic relief.

Readers can look forward to the first episode on September 29th.

Super Junior’s Donghae poses with One Way’s Chance and Peter

Super Junior’s talented Donghae recently updated his Twitter earlier today with a photo of himself holding a copy of One Way’s first album, Oneway Street. Donghae posed alongside One Way members Chance and Peter.

Along with the photo, Donghae tweeted in English, “With the Boys of One Way! Please support One Way Street album! I love u guys :)”

Meanwhile, One Way has been busy recording for their next album which should be released in the near future. If you took part in Chance’s contest, you’ll even get to see your own artwork in the album itself!

Donghae is a Queen’s Guard!!

On September 8th via Twitter, Super Junior’s Donghae updated his account with a photo of himself dressed up as a Queen’s Guard.

Along with the photo, it was commented, “No wonder my neck hurts. It’s because I was sleeping like this!! Good Morning!! Have a good day!! ELF.”

As seen in the photo, Donghae is sleeping with his red outfit of a Queen’s Guard along with the black bearskin. With his head tilted sideways against the sofa, it looks as if the heavy hat is pressing onto his neck.

U-Kiss opens their official Youtube channel

U-Kiss, who recently celebrated their 2 year anniversary, has opened their official Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/ukiss2008).

U-Kiss’ Alexander posted a link on his Twitter and tweeted,

‘Kara Vacation’ ranks 1st on Japan’s weekly Oricon BD chart

Girl group Kara has recently found futher proof of their growing popularity in Japan.

On the 8th, DSP Media revealed, “According to information released by Japan’s Oricon DVD & BD ranking on September 13th, ‘KARA VACATION’ ranked first in the weekly idol image category, and 11th overall on the combined rankings. Kara achieved the highest results for idol image BD work.

2NE1 releases more teaser photos and ‘Clap’ audio teaser

With only three days remaining before the release of 2NE1’s first full album and their three music videos, YG has released a few more teaser photos from their new concept, and an audio teaser for ‘Clap‘.

2NE1 will release their album on the 9th and perform on Inkigayo three days later.

Super Junior’s KyuHyun responds to his antis

Super Junior’s youngest member, KyuHyun, left a short but stern word for his Antis on his twitter account: @GaemGyu. He said, “I can stand it when you say bad things about me. You must have disliked something I did to do so. But don’t point your finger at my innocent family members and hurt them too… Think about what you’re writing before you write it.”

Now we know how mean Antis can get when they set their mind to hate a person. KyuHyun wouldn’t be the first celebrity to encounter this and he certainly won’t be the last, but that doesn’t make it any less serious. Particularly when innocent family members are brought into the mudslinging, which hurts them the most.

His fans showed him support by replying with:

The Korean Idols Who Took Over the "City of Angels"

At the LA Staples Center in USA on Sept. 4th, during the SM Town Live World Tour. SNSD, Super Junior, and other SM Entertainment artists are seen here singing their last song, "Light", receiving cheers from the audience.


The 56th song on this night, HOT's "Light", rang throughout the stadium to all the seats in the audience which were all filled even up to the topmost floor. All the members in the audience got up and sang along in Korean to the 43 singers with beautiful harmony on stage. The Korean singers, who were all on the stage of their dreams, cried tears.

This was all at the Staples Center in LA, where the Grammy awards are held. This concert venue was where Michael Jackson's memorial concert was held, and also where Beyonce, Madonna, and other super stars have performed before. On September 4th, K-pop had made history at the very same place.

The SM Town Live World Tour LA concert was held, and BoA, SNSD, Super Junior, Shinee, f(x), Uknow Yunho, and other SM Entertainment singers were in attendance. The fans cheered with all their might during the 4 hours of Korean music.

3 hours before the concert started, fans of many background and colors started to gather. 50% of the tickets for this concert were sold to non-Asian fans, and besides fans from the obvious countries like USA and Canada, there were many fans that came to see from Spain, Denmark, and other countries.

3 TVXQ members to release album in Korea

The three breakaway members of popular boy band TVXQ will be releasing their first album in Korea in October, marking their comeback in the music scene amid the lawsuit they filed last year against their agency SM Entertainment.

Various online Korean media reported that Youngwoong Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun and Xiah Junsu will be releasing their album under Warner Music Korea.

The album is gaining attention because of the participation of famous rapper and music producer Kanye West, and music producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins. The three TVXQ members went to the US this year to record the songs.

In addition to the album, the three are reportedly going on a concert tour in 10 Asian countries.

TVXQ became controversial last year when the three members sued SM Entertainment to annul their exclusive contracts.

A Seoul court later issued a preliminary injunction that allowed the three to pursue their activities without interference from SM Entertainment. A final ruling is being awaited.

With the lawsuit, Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu launched their own career in Japan in April by forming their own group outside TVXQ. They released albums and held concerts with much success.

Rain arrives for Manila concert

MANILA, Philippines – South Korean pop singer Jung Ji-Hoon, or more popularly known as Rain, arrived in Manila past 4 p.m. on Friday for his concert.

Rain did not grant any media interviews nor spend time with his fans who waited for him at the airport.

His concert, entitled “Intensity,” will be held on September 11 at the open grounds of SM Mall of Asia.

He will be joined by the K-Pop group U-Kiss who have performed in the country twice already. Filipino romantic balladeer Christian Bautista is also scheduled to perform in the concert.

Carlo Orosa, Baustista’s manager, said the concert is special for Rain since this will be his last before he enters Korean Military Service as it compulsory for male Korean citizens.

Prices of the concert tickets are P500, P1,500, P3,000 and P4,500.

Okada Masaki and Aoi Yu Appeared on Horseback

Actor Okada Masaki (21) and actress Aoi Yu (25) attended an event in Tokyo on the 31st to promote their new movie Raiou. The two actors rode out together on the horse they used during filming. "There was a time during practice when Yu-chan fell off the horse. She made a very beautiful arc as she was falling down. I couldn't help but laugh as I was watching it. I'm probably the worst!" Okada jokingly reveals. Aoi recalls filming the rigorous action scenes in the movie. "I hurt my back when I fell off the horse. During one of the sword fighting scenes I also injured my foot. It's the first time I had to go in on crutches."

Raiou is directed by Hiroki Ryuichi and will open in theaters in Japan on October 22.
